Genre notes pete's report
Genre refines the context of the film . Cookey and game shows are different formats.
Our groups' interactive film genre is a crime drama.
Four examples of a crime drama : Kiri , CSI, Sherlock, How to Get Away with Murder.
For instance, Sherlock contains knives and weapons.
'Kiri' is a crime drama which is mostly about murder.
All four examples relate to our interactive film because they all have gangsters, weapons and violence, make the audience feel tension, excitement and more interest in what is going on in the film. This relates to my groups' interactive film as there will feature violence, weapons and strong language . In addition to this there is a link with categories of genres in the film and the hypodernic needle theory, which implies that the conventions that I have referred to in the examples above , I.E weapons and violence is what the audience expect to feel. On one hand conventions are good because they help the audience to establish whether some character has a positive representation or negative representation but in another sense it is bad as people do not learn to perceive things differently.
'How to Get Away with Murder,' is a multilayered crime drama series that features several storylines which include people trying to cover up crimes from murder to fraud and drug taking to people being defended in court for many different types of crime. It also has dealt with alcoholism and drugs. Some of the main characters are quite aggressive and have challenging behaviour and not necessarily the type of behaviour you might expect from the usual heroine or hero. Stereotypes are challenged within different storylines. This series links in to my interactive film because the characters that are featured in the film are fairly aggressive and intimidating.
There are young people being defended in court, these people are categorised , in a particular why which is designed to make us feel as an audience that these people need to be seen as having a negative representation which is what I plan to demonstrate in also my part of the interactive film.
The unique components that are featured in CSI are weapons , drugs and alcohol and drugs . This is because the program is known as a crime drama. CSI also relates to my interactive film.
At the beginning scene in our interactive film I intend to implement the gratification theory by using a piece of Mozart music. As I mentioned in the last paragrapth people do not object to what they see and sometimes people need not to be afraid to perceive something differently
Media produce use different genres to categorise and apply to different audiences . Furthermore, it helps to entice audience members to watch the film and in some circumstances to persuade the younger audience to watch the film. They also use genres to promote films and make a high profit movie.
Think more strongly about who your audience is.
The audience is aimed for people who are interested in crime , this is because there is a lot of crime associated with these genres
